The most common way of heating industrial machinery is by superheated
high pressure steam. If different pressures are mixed at a junction
to give a certain manageable flow you have created a train whistle.
There are safe working guidelines for noisy environments, sometimes
using earplugs AND defenders AND limits to the period of exposure.
